Patrick Carter, MD
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine; Assistant Director, U-M Injury Prevention Center
Dr. Carter is an Assistant Professor and a board-certified emergency physician in University of Michigan (U-M) Emergency Medicine and the Assistant Director of the U-M Injury Prevention Center. His research broadly focuses on injury prevention, including the intersection of substance use and injury-related diseases such as violence among high-risk youth populations.
Dr. Carter is currently leading a state education project addressing opioid prescribing practices in Michigan. He was also the principal investigator of a four-state, multi-CDC-center initiative to translate evidence into policies and programs that can reduce the opioid overdose and addiction problem through state and local action.
