Rebecca Cunningham, MD

Dr. Cunningham is a Professor in the U-M department of Emergency Medicine, Vice President for Research-Health Sciences, U-M Office of Research, former Director and current Senior Advisor of the CDC-funded U-M Injury Prevention Center, and a Professor in the department of Health Behavior and Health Education at the U-M School of Public Health. In advising the Injury Prevention Center, Dr. Cunningham conceptualizes, oversees, and guides the short and long-term missions of the Injury Prevention Center.
Dr. Cunningham directs the U-M Injury Prevention Center, which has a core focus on reduction of opioid-related deaths.
She has individual research focus on the Emergency Department as a critical contact point for those with substance misuse including opioids and overdose as well as the Emergency Department as a key component of surveillance for fatal and non-fatal overdose deaths.
