Allosteric Modulation of the Mu-Opioid Receptor

Allosteric modulators are drugs that bind to unique sites on drug receptors to modify their function. We hypothesize that positive allosteric modulators of opioid receptors will enhance the action of the body’s own endogenous pain-relieving system thereby providing analgesia without the need for traditional opioid drugs.
