Development of Mixed Function Opioid Peptides and Peptidomimetics

Summary

This grant supports research aimed at the development of two series of bioavailable MOR agonist/DOR antagonist bifunctional opioid ligands: one a peptide series and the second a diverse set of peptidomimetics designed to incorporate the key structural elements of the peptides. The objective of this proposal is to develop opioid compounds that act at more than one type of receptor as analgesics with reduced tolerance and dependence liability.
