oPIOIDS: Prevention of Iatrogenic Opioid Dependence after Surgery

This prospective 5-year study seeks to define the normative consumption of opioids following surgery and the phenotypic risk factors for opioid dependence following procedural care. In addition, we will define the provider-level beliefs and behaviors that underlie opioid prescribing, and create a feedback tool to inform providers of prescribing patterns against patient-reported opioid consumption.
