Pilot Testing of Community Overdose Assessment Teams (COAT): A Demonstration Project

In partnership with Michigan State Police, we will develop and pilot Community Overdose Assessment Teams (COAT) in up to 3 counties. The purpose of a COAT will be to review overdose deaths within each county to: 1) Identify causes and incidences of opioid overdose deaths within the selected counties, 2) Develop recommendations to agencies of each local COAT to prevent future deaths, and 3) Provide recommendations to the State on how to address the epidemic, such as changes to laws or regulations.
