Michigan Opioid Collaborative: A Training and Support Program for Clinicians Treating Opioid Use Disorders

Summary

Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) is the “gold standard” of treatment for opioid use disorders (OUDs) and has been shown to reduce overdose mortality. However, many individuals receiving treatment for OUDs do not receive MAT, in part due to low access. Many clinicians eligible to provide this treatment do not due to insufficient training, knowledge, and support for the necessary practices. This project provides prescriber education and peer consultation and support to practices and communities seeking to expand access to MAT.
