Bonnie Cheng joined the Opioid Research Institute as a Senior Data Analyst in April 2025. She is responsible for supporting data and analytic operations through data management and analytics, and facilitating collaborations between ORI and other groups at U-M to further our mutual research and data efforts within the opioid space.
Prior to joining ORI, Bonnie worked as a Data Analyst at the Michigan Value Collaborative (MVC), a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM)-funded Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI) with a mission to improve the health of Michigan through sustainable, high-value healthcare. At MVC, Bonnie was responsible for various reporting needs and focused her efforts on promoting health equity across Michigan hospitals and supporting the analytic needs of rural hospitals.
More recently, Bonnie was a Business Intelligence Analyst with the Michigan Medicine Quality Analytics Team, where she helped visualize the data that informed quality improvement efforts of clinical teams at Michigan Medicine and across the University of Michigan Health enterprise.
Bonnie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Health in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
