I am a Professor of Neurology who is interested in neuropathy and headache. I was the lead facilitator of the American Academy of Neurology guidelines for the treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy, which recommended against opioids in this population.
One of my goals is to increase the evidence for the treatment of neuropathic pain with the goal of reducing opioid use. I am also studying ways to better understand problematic opioid use patterns and predict which patients are likely to have adverse events from opioids.
