Kate Howe, MPH

Senior Project Manager

Kathleen (Kate) Howe joined the Opioid Research Institute as a Senior Project Manager in September 2025. She leads research initiatives spanning needs assessment, program evaluation, and data analysis. Kate brings extensive experience managing federally funded injury and violence prevention research. Her recent work includes evaluating Detroit’s opioid overdose prevention initiative and analyzing the impact of Michigan’s opioid legislation.

Kate is deeply committed to community-engaged research and has worked with a wide network of collaborators across public health, policy, and academic sectors. With a focus on transforming complex findings into accessible, actionable insights through data visualization and community-engaged dissemination, her professional interests include the built environment as public health intervention, applied research translation, and health communication. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Behavior & Health Equity from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
