Dr. Smith’s research interests include the safe and effective use of analgesics in centralized pain, older adults with and who survive cancer, appropriate use of medications in these vulnerable patients, and the expansion of clinical pharmacist scope of practice.
He is a Research Health Scientist within the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center of the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center He is also a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pain and Palliative Care at the University of Michigan Health, where his clinical responsibilities include serving patients with serious or life-limiting illnesses and helping optimize their symptom management.
