The DEA’s X-Waiver (DATA-Waiver) program was eliminated by Congress in July 2022. On December 29, 2022, as part of the Omnibus Budget bill (Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023), Congress enacted a new one-time, 8-hour SUD training requirement for all practitioners who need to renew or apply for a DEA registration.
