In 2021, the CDC estimated that about 20% of adults experience chronic pain, representing the important role that doctors, educators, and practitioners have in safe opioid prescribing and pain management.

Dr. Pooja Lagisetty discussed opioids and overdose as an injury prevention area of focus and provided an overview of the opioid epidemic and treatment landscape for patients with pain, including the major barriers to accessing pain treatment and potential solutions.

The event was open to all researchers, staff, and students and lunch will be provided.
