The Mind Matters Community Education Series is a free educational series designed for individuals and families. Join experts from our treatment clinic, U-M Addiction Treatment Services (UMATS) to learn more about important topics related to addiction and recovery.

This is an educational event for the public, students, providers and trainees. Attendees will learn helpful information about addiction, hear personal stories from individuals in recovery, and receive information on how to obtain help and support. Free Narcan will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

Erin Cox, MSW

Person in Recovery

Erin is a Washtenaw County local, who went to undergrad at Eastern Michigan University and recently received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She is now the Recovery Program Coordinator at Wayne State University (WSU), where she is in the process of beginning a Collegiate Recovery Program for WSU students who are in recovery from substance use. She also works at the School of Social Work at WSU, and is assisting in research surrounding state funding for the treatment of opioid use disorders.

Bryan McCausland

Bryan was born Australia and spent 10 years his career working in Asia (China, Thailand and Japan). He moved to the USA 8 years ago, and his recovery begain on Dec 26th 2016. Since then, he got married, has two dogs, a house, and a baby girl born in July.
